Renewable Energy and Solar PV System Analysis Internship

Assess solar resource, size a PV system and evaluate performance, losses and economics.

A renewable-energy analysis pathway from solar resource and PV fundamentals through system sizing, simulation, yield estimation and a documented design case.

Program overview

Eligible branches: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and related branches

Target learner level: Learners with basic electrical concepts who want to understand solar PV sizing and performance analysis.

Prerequisites: Basic electrical quantities and spreadsheet familiarity · No field installation is required

Technologies and tools

Solar resource assessment · PV system sizing · module and inverter concepts · energy-yield analysis · loss analysis · sensitivity scenarios

Practical assignments

  • Compare solar resource and orientation assumptions for a sample site
  • Estimate system sizing and expected yield for defined constraints
  • Review losses and compare a storage or resilience scenario

Capstone project

Prepare a feasibility-style PV system analysis with documented sizing assumptions, yield, losses and sensitivity.

Expected deliverables

Frequently asked questions

Is prior experience required?

The prerequisites listed on this page describe helpful preparation. The opening weeks include a guided refresher; learners should be ready to practise consistently and complete project work.

Is this a certified solar-system design or installation service?

No. It is an educational analysis program and does not replace site-specific engineering review, statutory approvals or installer qualifications.
